The Testimony of the Empty Tomb

“Why do you seek the living among the dead?” (Lk 24:5)

Following the enormity of the ignominious crucifixion of Jesus Christ at Calvary, and his seven last words from the cross, on Resurrection Sunday, as an act of worship,  traumatized women took a trip to the tomb to anoint the dead body of our Lord and made a startling discovery. They discovered an empty tomb and was asked by angels a question that has stood human history on its head. “Why do you seek the living among the dead?” They received a radical word that “He is not here but is risen.” The good news of Resurrection Sunday is despite our postmortem expectations and the demons of death in Jesus’ life at his crucifixion at Calvary on Good Friday, God miraculously turned the tables and by faith we believe death was defeated in the life of the risen Savior. The testimony of the tomb is he is not here. This Resurrection Sunday, celebrate the risen Savior because God turned the tables and snatched the sting of death from the grave. We’ve got something to shout about because death was defeated and Christ Jesus, our Lord is risen. Its’ not fake news. Its the truth of God by faith.
